Rolling out the Red Carpet!
On Thursday, May 1st, Davie Community Foundation hosted its annual Red Carpet Reception at Triple J Manor House. The event that began in 2021 has quickly become a signature celebration of achievement and philanthropy in Davie County. The Foundation uses the occasion to recognize the hard work of local students while honoring those who invest in their futures. The Red Carpet Reception connects students, donors, families and board members together in one place and provides students an opportunity to express their appreciation firsthand, while donors can witness the real-life impact of their support.
Welcome and Reflection
The evening began with a warm welcome from Davie Community Foundation President and CEO Jane Simpson, who shared the history of the Foundation’s scholarship program. From humble beginnings in 2004 with just seven scholarships totaling $9,500, the program has since expanded to include 98 scholarship endowments, awarding $346,523 to 148 deserving students so far in 2025. Graduate, healthcare and IGNITE DAVIE scholarships are still to be awarded later this year.
Scholarship Presentations
The night rolled on as Vice Chairman Mike Morton and Secretary of the Board Davin Brown introduced each scholarship recipient. The students walked down the red carpet, beaming with pride to receive their recognition from the supporters who have invested in their futures. After the final student made their way down the carpet, Senior Program Officer, Melissa O’Connor, thanked everyone for attending, provided information for the parents about the scholarship checks and requested that the students gather for a group photo. The students positioned themselves along the staircase and their parents flocked to the front to snap a picture to remember the special occasion. The night concluded with the scholars mingling and enjoying cake and conversation with their donors and families.
Special Thanks
The evening’s special moments were captured by Kathy Miller of One Shot Photography while members of the Pearls group from NC Chapter Beta Mu of Alpha Delta Kappa served slices of the delicious celebratory cake from Ketchie Creek Bakery. Guests also enjoyed stunning and savory charcuterie boards, beautifully crafted by Amber Goode of Goode Grazing.
