Zachary Vogler

Nearly two decades ago, a scholarship helped open the door to higher education for local student, Zachary Vogler. A 2006 graduate of Davie County High School, Zach headed to Appalachian State University with dreams of pursuing pharmacy, but like many students discovering their true path, he shifted gears and found his passion in construction management. Today, he works as a professional electrician.

Salem Cartner

At just 17 years old, Salem Cartner already knew what career path she wanted to take – she wanted to become a Physician Assistant. Now after years of dedication, she is preparing to enter South College of Nashville’s Physician Assistant Studies program in the fall of 2025.

Karlyn (Phipps) Armsworthy

Karlyn (Phipps) Armsworthy graduated from Davie County High School in 2009. “After high school, I knew I wanted to serve others, but I just wasn’t exactly sure how,” she explains. Initially drawn to teaching, her early college experience helped her discover that a career in business could also be a powerful platform for her to make a positive impact. “I found that a career in business could allow me to lead with purpose, support others, and create opportunities for growth and mentorship,” she says.

Jaretzy Hernandez

When Jaretzy Hernandez walked across the stage at Davie County Early College High School in 2019, she carried not only a diploma but a determination to break new ground as a first-generation college student, a future healthcare professional, and a proud representative of her community.

Sierra Foster

Sierra Foster’s journey began with a lucky break – her name being drawn for the Diana Springer Scholarship. Sierra graduated from Davie County High School in 2019. She received the Diana Springer Scholarship, a scholarship that covers tuition and fees for four years at UNC-Chapel Hill, based on early admission and the luck of the draw.

Dr. Greg Simpson

For Greg Simpson, the journey from a Davie County student to a practicing urologic surgeon has been shaped by persistence, resilience, and the support of a community that believed in him. A 2005 graduate of Davie County High School, Greg continued his education at Wake Forest University, where he majored in Health and Exercise Science, a foundation that ultimately led him to a career in medicine.

Kaycee Dixon

For one Davie County educator, the path to a fulfilling career in education started with powerful investments in her future – scholarships. Kaycee Dixon graduated from Davie County High School in 2010. Thanks to the support of the White-Martin Scholarship, James McGuire Scholarship, and Jim Bremer Scholarship, all administered by the Davie Community Foundation, she was able to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. Kaycee attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.

Macana (Goins) Louya 

For one local student, a dream that began in high school is now a thriving career in nursing. Macana (Goins) Louya graduated from Davie County High School in 2019 and went on to attend Davidson-Davie Community College. Today, she is a charge nurse at Kernersville Endoscopy Center.
