Scholarships Overview
We believe the community members who will have the most impact on our community in the future are our students. Davie Community Foundation is proud to administer a Scholarship Program offering a variety of professionally administered scholarship endowments that invest in students!
Scholarships administered by the Davie Community Foundation are organized into seven sections. Scholarships in sections 1-5 are for full time students (12 hours or more per semester).
Davie Community Foundation scholarships will be awarded without regard to age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation, religious belief or any other characteristic protected by law, with the exception of those programs with clearly stated restrictions or preference.
Scholarships are available to Davie County students planning to attend Colleges, Universities, Community Colleges, or Trade Schools.
Completing our General Online Application enters you in the selection process for scholarships in Sections 1-3.
Section 1: 2019 General Scholarship Application deadline is February 12, 2019 at 11:59 pm
Scholarships in this section are interested in Davie County, NC high school seniors who will pursue an Associate Degree in a trade from a Community College or Technical Institute. Note, some scholarships will consider students pursuing either an Associate or Bachelor Degree, and are listed in multiple sections.
B.Edwin & Ivy Nell Boger Family Scholarship – available to a well-rounded high school senior with financial need, pursuing a trade degree. Renewable for a second year with minimum GPA requirement of 2.75.
C.J. Mullens Scholarship – available to high school seniors, with priority given to students who have financial need, work hard and are pursuing a trade degree.
C.W. and Barbara Allen Scholarship – available to a male or female Davie High School athlete. Consideration is given for academic achievement, involvement, and respectable standing in the community
Davie County Extension Master Gardeners Scholarship – available to Davie County high school seniors pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Botany, Environmental Science, Floriculture, Forestry, Habitat, Horticulture, Landscape, Land Management, Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Design and Turf Management or related field.
Huston “Jim” Frye and Vickie Frye Scholarship – available to high school seniors with priority given to students with financial need who are pursuing a trade degree in a construction related field.
Marvin Lester Williams Scholarship – available to a well-rounded high school senior with financial need, giving priority to students majoring in an agricultural, environmental or forestry related field.
Miller Building & Remodeling Scholarship – available to students pursuing a degree within the Construction Industry, including trades such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, HVAC, or Construction Management. Preference is given to hands-on related fields.
Odell and Dorothy Williams Scholarship – available to a well-rounded high school senior with financial need, giving priority to students majoring in an agricultural, environmental or forestry related field.
Richard and Elaine Williams Scholarship – available to a well-rounded high school senior with financial need, giving priority to students majoring in an agricultural, environmental or forestry related field
Robert & Hope Hall Family Scholarship – available to a Davie high school senior or college student. Preference will be given to students pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree in Pharmacy, Pharmacy Tech, Healthcare related fields or Hospitality fields.
Rosa and James Clyde Cook, Sr. Memorial Scholarship – available to a high school senior with priority given to students with financial need who will train in the field of Auto Mechanics
Section 2: 2019 General Scholarship Application deadline is February 12, 2019 at 11:59 pm
Scholarships in this section are interested in Davie County, NC students. Scholarships are for high school seniors, with a few of the scholarships also interested in current college students. Scholarships have a variety of focus and criteria; all interested in students pursuing a Bachelor Degree. Note, some scholarships will consider students pursuing either an Associate or Bachelor Degree, and are listed in multiple sections.
Angie Slabach Scholarship – available to well-rounded high school seniors who are residents of Davie County. Preference given to A/B student athletes who are active in their church
Austin Ryan Carter Memorial Scholarship – available to well-rounded Davie County Early College high school seniors
Bill Foster Scholarship – available with preference to employees of Foster Drug Company and their children, as well as former employees who are presently in school; however, other applicants will be accepted. Applicant must have completed one year of college with a 2.75 GPA and have financial need
Bobby & Bernice Knight Scholarship – available to high school seniors or college students based on academic achievement and financial need
Bobby Staley Memorial Band Scholarship – available to a well-rounded Davie High Senior who participated and was active in band
Coach Ron Kirk Memorial Scholarship – available to a high school senior who participated in wrestling or football
Community Scholarship – available to well-rounded high school seniors and college students
Crenshaw Family Scholarship – available to students pursuing a degree in Education and want to teach. Consideration will be given for academic achievement, leadership, character, involvement, citizenship, community service, and financial need
Christian Shane Fleming Scholarship – available to high school seniors with an emphasis on local church involvement, faith and character
C.W. and Barbara Allen Scholarship – available to a male or female Davie High School athlete. Consideration is given for academic achievement, involvement, and respectable standing in the community
Davie County Crosby Scholarship – available to Davie High or DC Early College HS students exhibiting academic excellence and exceptional community service
Davie County Education Scholarship – available to high school seniors who will pursue a degree in Education
Davie County Extension Master Gardeners Scholarship – available to Davie County high school seniors pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Botany, Environmental Science, Floriculture, Forestry, Habitat, Horticulture, Landscape, Land Management, Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Design and Turf Management or related field.
Davie County Training School – Central Davie High Sshool Reunion Scholarship – available to high school seniors who are descendants of a Davie County Training School or Central Davie School graduate/attendee
Davie High Class of 1959 – available to Davie High School seniors for general educational pursuits with consideration for financial need
Davie High Class of 1962 – available to Davie High School seniors for general educational pursuits with consideration for financial need
Davie High Class of 1963 – available to Davie High School seniors for general educational pursuits with consideration for financial need
Davie High Class of 1966 – available to Davie High School seniors for general educational pursuits with consideration for financial need
Davie High Class of 1974 – available to Davie High School seniors for general educational pursuits with consideration for financial need
Davie High Class of 1976 – available to Davie High School seniors for general educational pursuits with consideration for financial need
Dianne and Allen Snipes Family Scholarship – available for general educational pursuits. Preference given to students of any age who attend a Methodist Church
Dorothy Rucker Graham Scholarship – available to Davie High School Seniors who demonstrate academic ability and financial need
Dr. David L. Gilbreath Scholarship – available to Davie Seniors with an emphasis on local church involvement, faith and character
Edwin B. Owens Band Scholarship – available to a Davie High senior who has been dedicated to the band program and involved in school and community activities
Effie Ruth Dorsett Scholarship – available to high school seniors who will pursue a degree in Education
Hanes Smith Scholarship – available to Davie High School Seniors who demonstrate financial need
Helen C. Gantt Memorial Scholarship – available to high school seniors who will pursue a degree in Education
Helen Page Crenshaw Scholarship – available to high school seniors who will pursue a degree in Education
Hillsdale Real Estate Group Scholarship – available to a well-rounded senior who is focused on service through church, community and school
Jackie Lee Nichols Memorial Scholarship – available to High School Seniors from the Cooleemee area for general educational pursuits
James and Esther Wall Scholarship – available to a high school senior or renewing college student who is pursuing a degree in Education
James Illing Scholarship – available to Davie High School football players
James McGuire Scholarship – available to high school seniors or college students who demonstrate academic ability and financial need
Jerry Lynn Berrier Scholarship – available to Davie County students based on academic achievement with strong consideration for financial need
Jim Bremer Memorial Scholarship – available to Davie High or DC Early College HS students with an emphasis on academic achievement, financial need and community involvement
Jim Tutterow Memorial Scholarship – available to students with general educational pursuits who have played on the Davie High School Tennis Team
Joe Phillips Memorial Scholarship – available to high school seniors with a passion for the Arts
Louise Stroud & Jessie Stroud Hinkle Music Scholarship – available to a high school senior who will pursue a major or minor in Music or a closely related field. Sample of work required
MALLMARK EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP – available to high school seniors who have achieved Eagle Scout with a focus on academics
Marvin Lester Williams Scholarship – available to a well-rounded high school senior with financial need, giving priority to students majoring in an agricultural, environmental or forestry related field
Miller Building & Remodeling Scholarship – available to students pursuing a degree within the Construction Industry, including trades such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, HVAC, or Construction Management. Preference is given to hands-on related fields
Mocksville Masonic Lodge # 134 Scholarship – available to high school seniors with good moral character for general educational pursuits with consideration for financial need

Phyllis Potter Leadership in Education Scholarship – available to high school seniors who will major in Education and have shown leadership in their church and community

Rotary Club of Mocksville Scholarship – available to high school seniors with a focus on academics and community service
Roy and Ruth Eldridge Scholarship – available to well-rounded high school seniors or college students
Ruby Morris Markland Memorial Scholarship – available to high school seniors who will pursue a degree in Education
Spurgeon Goss Memorial Scholarship – available to Davie High School football players with an emphasis on financial need
The Extra Mile, Daric Beiter Scholarship – available to Davie High School seniors who participated in Cross Country and/or Track and Field
Tom Cowden Memorial Scholarship – available to seniors at Davie High School, North Iredell High School, or West Rowan High School. Emphasis on community service through church, scouts and 4-H
Web and Virginia Lard Scholarship – available to provide post-secondary education to a high school or college student with a major course of study in science
White-Martin Scholarship – available to high school seniors or college students with financial need who has shown academic achievement
Section 3: 2019 General Scholarship Application deadline is February 12, 2019 at 11:59 pm
Scholarships listed in this section are for high school seniors from various counties. Review your eligibility before applying.
Tom Cowden Memorial Scholarship – available to seniors at Davie High School, North Iredell High School, or West Rowan High School. Emphasis on community service through church, scouts and 4-H
Judge George Fuller Memorial Scholarship – available in 2019 to Davie County and Alexander County high school seniors with an emphasis on academics and financial need
Davie County Training School – Central Davie HS Reunion Scholarship – available to high school seniors who are descendants of a Davie County Training School or Central Davie School graduate/attendee
Section 4: 2019 Scholarships in this section use individual paper applications with various due dates
Grady L. McClamrock Sr. Scholarship – available to high school seniors or college students who are members of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Application due February 28, 2019. Click here for application
James E. and Lelia N. Essic Scholarship – available to high school seniors or college students demonstrating financial need. Application due February 22, 2019. Click here for application
North Davie Ruritan Community Scholarship – available to high school students from the William R. Davie Community. Application due February 12, 2019. Click here for application
Section 5: 2019 Healthcare Scholarship Application deadline is June 10, 2019 at 11:59 pm
Scholarships in this section are healthcare related. Davie County, NC Students must be pursuing a degree in a healthcare related field to apply.
Davie County Hospital Foundation Scholarship – available to applicants of any age pursuing a career in healthcare. High school students must have completed AP Biology and plan to pursue coursework in a Medical or Allied Health field. College students must currently be enrolled in a Medical or Allied Health curriculum and must have evidence of course work in a Medical or Allied Health area of study.
Davie County Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship in memory of Priscilla Clark – available to Davie County residents accepted into a Nursing Program at a 2 or 4-year accredited college/university in NC on a full-time basis.
Roger & Lisa Davis & Family Scholarship – available to college students who have completed at least one year of college with a major in Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Nursing or similar pre-health professions. Consideration will be given for academic achievement (minimum 3.2 GPA), community service and work experience.
Samuel S. “Penny” Foster Nursing Scholarship – available to Davie/Rowan County residents who have been accepted into an Associate Degree Nursing Program and have completed two (2) semesters.
Section 6: 2019 Graduate Degree Scholarship – Application deadline is May 15, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.
Scholarships in this section have a variety of focus and criteria for students pursuing a Graduate Degree.
Owen Luffman Scholarship – available to graduate students pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a field of study that prepares them to work with Special Needs children.
Section 7: 2019 Scholarship Applications
Scholarships in this section are not for post-secondary studies. Each has a specific purpose with a separate paper application and deadline.
Joe Lefler Legacy Scholarship – Deadline was June 1, 2018 – a full scholarship to the week-long KIDabra Convention for family and kidshow performers. Available to youth under the age of 21 who are interested in performing for children and family audiences.
Triad Performing Arts Fund Scholarship – Deadline: at least 6 weeks before the program – scholarship available to an individual wishing to attend an enrichment or technical class or a summer camp/program in the performing arts. Scholarship available to Triad residents (Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, Iredell, and Yadkin Counties) who have a genuine interest in the performing arts and would like to participate in a specific program.
