Davie Community Foundation Scholarships
Austin Ryan Carter Memorial Scholarship
It was obvious Austin was gifted from an early age. He was slow to walk but quick to speak. He was selected by Duke Universities TIP program in sixth grade. He took his first SAT at 12 years old and scored very well. It seemed Austin had a bright future. Instead, in June of 2008, he found himself at a crossroad. That summer he learned his mother had terminal cancer. He also realized that due to poor attendance he was going to have to repeat 8th grade. It was a harsh reality check for Austin that could not be ignored.
After many days and many phone calls, Austin found himself in the office of Jinda Haynes, principal of the Davie County Early College High School. Mrs. Haynes and counselor Teri Davies recognized the unique circumstances and allowed Austin to join the Phoenix family at the school. He was allowed to forgo 8th grade and became the very first “new kid” at DCECHS. It was a turning point. Austin threw himself into his work and blossomed. He had found his school, his friends, and his place of comfort. With the support of his new friends and the staff at the early college Austin was able to continue on and graduate from Appalachian State University in May of 2014.
It was because of the love and acceptance he found at the Early College that this scholarship bears his name and recognizes one of its students. It was his dream to return one day and establish it himself. Despite his death, the scholarship has become a reality due to Austin’s drive, hard work, kindness, and thrift. It encourages anyone that finds them self struggling to hold tight to their dreams and never give up!
The Austin Ryan Carter Memorial Scholarship is available to a well-rounded Davie County Early College high school senior.

Bobby moved to Mocksville to serve as the State Farm agent where he remained for 33 years. His partner Bernice was always with him, and they worked together while raising their family. Bobby shared his many talents with his community and church, where he faithfully served. He was elected and served the people of Davie County well for 3 terms as County Commissioner.

Davie County Training School – Central Davie High School Reunion Scholarship
In 1925, the Julius Rosenwald Foundation provided the impetus and shared the funding for the construction of the “Colored School” on Campbell Road in Mocksville. Rosenwald School, the first name of the school, began with grades 1-8. By 1934, it had expanded to grade 11, and school year 1946-47 the 12th grade was added. Extra-curricular activities were limited, books were old and smelly and county and state transportation was not available. Magalene Gaither, former student, said that these limitations provided a respect for learning. “You had to do the best with what you had,” she said. “It instilled pride and concentrated attention to skills and tremendous social graces.”
Marie Craig Roth stated in her book, “History of Davie County Schools,” that “time goes quickly and unless they are written down and archived somewhere, valuable information is lost forever.”
The original Davie County Training School building burned down in 2002 and, to be sure that its memories were not lost forever, former students came together to start a scholarship fund which would preserve the memory of this school and the people who learned and taught there.
The Davie County Training School – Central Davie High School Reunion Scholarship is available to a high school senior or college student who is a descendant of a Davie County Training School or Central Davie School Graduate/Attendee.

Dianne & Allen Snipes Family Scholarship
In 2006, Dianne and Allen Snipes created a permanently restricted endowment that provides financial support for graduates of Davie High School that are pursuing a secondary education.
The Dianne and Allen Snipes Family ScholarshipFund was borne out of the Snipes’ commitment to the importance of education for one’s long term-success, and for their life-long love of The United Methodist Church which they have served faithfully in the mill village of Cooleemee.
Over the years, support for the fund has spread to their three children Rik, Betsy and David, as they have added to the annual distributions that are made as students pursue their academic dreams.
Dianne, a graduate of Davie High School and the North-Carolina School of Banking, began her career in banking as a part-time teller for what was then Durham Bank & Trust. Upon her retirement in 2000, she was serving as Vice President and branch manager for Sun Trust Bank in Cooleemee.
Allen’s career was in construction following graduation from Cooleemee High School. Having started as a laborer and brick mason in the early 1960’s, he went on to work for several regional general contracting firms and ultimately was the founding partner of two firms. Upon his retirement he was a Vice President at Davie Construction.
“We love our town of Cooleemee as well as the people of Davie County. It is out of this love that we want to make a difference in the lives of young people, hoping that in some small way, we can help the recipients of the scholarship limit their educational debt that can often overwhelm many graduates.”

Helen C. Gantt Memorial Education Scholarship
Helen C. Gantt knew at an early age that education and hard work would play a significant role in her life. Her mother was a high school history teacher while her father owned and operated a welding shop after serving in the US Navy. Both of her parents valued education and challenged her to put forth her best effort academically.
After graduating from Appalachian State with a teaching degree, Helen settled in Davie County in 1968 to begin teaching and raising a family. She raised two children that still reside in Davie County and share her passion to make a difference. As an educator, Helen had the opportunity to make lifelong friends and touch the lives of her students. To this day, her children are often reminded of how she made learning fun and the way she took time to listen or to offer assistance after school so that one child would not suffer or feel left out. Her giving spirit and infectious smile lit up the day for many of her students.
Giving in to an entrepreneurial calling, Helen stepped away from teaching and opened Gantt Personnel Inc, in 1988. She had now accepted the challenge of helping those in the community find jobs in order to help support their families. Her staffing agency would go on to touch the lives of more than 30,000 employees before closing in March of 2005.
Helen was diagnosed with cancer in 1996 and would ultimately lose her battle with this disease in November of 1998. Before she passed, she shared with friends and family that her personal success had been sculpted by many others in her life. Jackie Lee Nichols Memorial Scholarship
Jackie Lee Nichols regretted not having more education and as a result encouraged every young person he met to continue in school. His memorial scholarship was established by his loving wife Darleen because Education was so important to Jackie, and he wanted to help other kids from Cooleemee.
Jackie was born in Cooleemee on October 26, 1933. He was the 3rd of 5 children born to Carl and Bessie Blackwood Nichols. At the age of 3, he was hit by a car, leaving him with a head injury that led to speech problems the remainder of his life.
Jackie had major difficulty with reading and speech throughout his early years, making school work and socialization very difficult. At the age of 16, he dropped out of school to work in Cannon Mills, the Cooleemee cotton mill, with his parents.
On June 29, 1953, he entered the US Army, proudly serving his country. Jackie often said this experience changed and saved his life. After serving 2 years, Jackie remained in the reserve until1961. He settled in Alexandria, VA., close to his Mother, after service. In 1959 he married his wife of 55 years, Darleen Faris. He found his dream job as a maintenance engineer for George Washington’s Estate, Mt. Vernon, where he worked until he retired in 1995.
Jackie and Darleen had no children but were active with nieces and nephews. In retirement, Jackie survived cancer, traveled extensively, explored his love of Western History and designed his dream home. He passed away quietly January 9, 2014 in his sleep. His favorite comment about life was “not bad for a kid from Cooleemee”.
The Jackie Lee Nichols Memorial Scholarship is available to a Davie High School or Davie County Early College senior from the Cooleemee area for general educational pursuits.

James E. and Lelia N. Essic Scholarship
James and Lelia lived in their home on Cana Road for over 50 years. The two met while attending college at Appalachian State University where he studied History and she majored in Home Economics.
James went on to work at Reynolds for 42 years. Lelia became a teacher, but not in the typical way; she taught gifted children in the summer and emotionally handicapped children in the winter for 20 years.
James and Lelia were happy to have a large family consisting of four children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. All children and grandchildren are college graduates except the youngest who is currently in college. The others have been gainfully employed and are active church members.
It was when they had three children in college at one time that James and Lelia thought about other students who might be in need. They began their scholarship program in 1989. Between the years of 1989 and 2010, they gave 158 awards to 123 different students. Many were helped more than once. The Essics have given more than $100,000 to help students pursuing a college education.
James passed away in 2010 but before his death both he and Lelia considered themselves very blessed. They consider their children their greatest legacy, but they have received much joy and satisfaction from being able to help their scholarship recipients through the years. They consider it one of their most worthwhile investments.
The James E. and Lelia N. Essic Scholarship is available to high school seniors or college students demonstrating financial need.
James Illing Scholarship Fund
James Illing was an avid football fan and was actively involved with sons Doug and Chad’s sports throughout his life. He was a Little League Football Coach who fashioned his coaching style after Bear Bryant and Vince Lombardi. James was serious about the game to say the least.
Doug Illing, Davie High Football Coach from 1996-2014 remembers, “Dad was a good coach but the rides home were the worst. He was always hardest on me and would critique my play the entire way home.” During Doug’s senior year in high school, his dad decided to go back to college. They went to separate schools, but graduated from college together in 1986.
When Davie High hired Doug Illing, James became an honorary part of the coaching staff. “Dad came to every game and found his way into pregame warm-up drills,” said Doug. “We finally gave him a shirt, hat and job keeping stats on where every pass was thrown during a game so we could chart the offensive plays. He was more than happy to assist with anything that would help the team perform better. The rides back from away games were always memorable. It was dark in the van but you always knew where James Illing was by his laugh. It was infectious.
After a lengthy illness, James died in 2011. Family and friends established his Scholarship to remember a man who gave so much of himself to make young men better players, but more importantly, better people with good moral character and a dedication to being the very best.
The James Illing Scholarship is available to a Davie High School football player.
James McGuire Scholarship
Mary and Jane McGuire believed in giving. They were interested in progress and the good of the community. Mary preceded Jane in death by less than one year, and Jane’s will provided $200,000 for the James McGuire Scholarship in memory of their father; $50,000 for the Davie County Public Library Building Expansion; $10,000 to First UMC where the sisters were life-long members; $20,000 to Joppa Cemetery where they are buried; $5,000 for the Davie Family YMCA; $5,000 for the Triad Methodist Home in Winston-Salem; and $5,000 for UMCOR, the Methodist Relief Organization in Charlotte. The McGuire sisters were very interested in preserving Historic things so the Library was given the old McGuire home along with numerous books, antiques, and furnishings to create the Mary and Jane McGuire Library Fund. They were VERY charitable people!
The sisters were also partners – neither married. Jane cooked, Mary cleaned. Jane was more outgoing but Mary had a terrific sense of humor. They were both capable secretaries and bookkeepers. Jane served as secretary to the Superintendent of Schools, and Mary served the Agriculture Extension Agency. They both loved farming and antiques, reading and playing bridge. They managed money well. Both loved to travel and entertain.
The scholarship fund was especially important to the sisters because they were not able to go to college. Their father died when Jane was 15 months old. The local story is that the executor of their father’s estate played futures and lost their education money in the crash in the 1920’s. They were raised by their mother who after the loss could not afford to send the girls to college. Mrs. McGuire took female teachers as boarders, furnishing rooms and meals in the house on the corner of Salisbury and Lexington – currently the Howard Realty Office. The sisters are buried inside the rock wall at Joppa Cemetery.
The James McGuire Scholarship is available to a high school senior or college student who demonstrates academic ability and need for financial assistance

Jim Bremer Memorial Scholarship Fund
As an honor student and Boy Scout, Jim was dedicated to his studies and his community. At the time of his death, Jim was about to start his Eagle Scout project. He loved boating, fishing, and playing soccer and baseball. History interested Jim and he enjoyed visiting historical sites, especially Revolutionary War and Civil War battle fields. Classmates remember Jim by his animated and likeable personality; once someone met Jim, chances are they would become good friends.
One classmate said: “When I think back on memories of high school, it is so easy to picture his face and feel the general good mood he invoked in everyone. He puts others before himself and always wanted to ensure his friends were taken care of. For instance, I as well as others spent countless times with Jim waiting to be picked up from the church bus stop. He refused to allow anyone to wait alone.”
Even as good a student, an athlete, a friend and a son Jim was, he made a poor decision to take his Father’s car without permission. Hurrying home, he ran off the road and hit a tree. After a battle of valor, Jim died the next day. When Jim received his driver’s license he decided to be an organ donor. Thus, even in death, he continued to help others. That is why this scholarship was established, not only to honor Jim, but more importantly to help those who need assistance in furthering their education.
The Jim Bremer Memorial Scholarship is available to a high school senior with an emphasis on academic achievement, need for financial assistance and community involvement.
Jim Tutterow Memorial Scholarship
Davie High School was ready to initiate a tennis program but had no coach. Principal Jack Ward approached one of his youngest faculty members and asked him to be the Tennis Coach. The young man was not even a tennis player but he was one to accept a challenge! He researched and read everything he could find about the game and its fundamentals. With patience he shared the knowledge he had acquired from study to youth wanting to be tennis players. He launched an almost unbelievable tennis program. In the spring of 1976, the Davie High boys won the North Piedmont Conference tennis championship. Jim Tutterow was named the “Conference Tennis Coach of the Year.”
No one ever lived that had any more heart or greater will than Jim Tutterow. Knowing that he was the victim of cancer, an illness from which few escape, he devoted his full resources and energy to teaching, coaching, and helping others. The popularity of the game of tennis in Davie County and the expanded number of courts is a tribute to the heart and will of Jim Tutterow.
He was not only a History teacher, he was a historian. He taught his students far more than one could ever find in a history book He researched and wrote a complete history of his church and community. He was also assistant historian for the county. He was active in community activities, always working and striving to make life better for others. His contagious smile always made a sad day brighter.
Life is not measured, or should not be, merely in years of existence. Instead life should be valued on what it accomplished…of the contributions to the betterment of mankind…of the inspiration it offers for others in the future. Thus was the life of Jim Tutterow. He continues to help and inspire others through the scholarship in his memory.
The Jim Tutterow Memorial Scholarship is available to students with general educational pursuits who have played on the Davie High School Tennis Team .
Jimmy Booe Football Scholarship
Jimmy Booe was a son that loved and respected his parents. He was a brother that not only took up for his brother and sister but lived as an example to them. To many, Jimmy was a friend that rivaled a brother which they never had. At the time of his passing he was engaged to be married. Jimmy was preparing himself to be a husband, father and a rock for his future family to lean on.
Jimmy made a tremendous impact on the Davie County football program through his work ethic, drive and heart. Jimmy played offensive line for the War Eagles from 1995-1998. His senior year he stood a towering five foot seven inches and weighed in at a whopping 165 pounds. For most, trying to play offensive guard at his size would nearly be an impossible task however, Jimmy wasn’t like most. He was Special.
His work ethic off the field directly contributed to his success on the field. Jimmy spent countless hours in the weight-room and running drills purely because he loved the game of football. During each game of his final season, he left every ounce of energy on the turf. He played the offensive line like someone twice his size should have. Jimmy Booe set high standards for all of his teammates. He challenged himself to lead by example. If there has ever been a young man to put on a Davie County football helmet and play above his athletic ability with nothing more than pure heart and determination, it was Jimmy Booe.
After his senior season ended he stood as tall and proud as his five foot frame would allow. When his name was announced at the awards banquet, that whopping 165 pounds walked up on stage and accepted his First Team All CPC honors and a plaque that read “War Eagles Best Offensive Lineman.” Awards he earned because he was Special.
The Jimmy Booe Football Scholarship was established from memorial gifts made after Jimmy’s death and the generosity of his best friend Forrest Breedlove.
Players will not apply for the Jimmy Booe Football Scholarship; they will simply make their case through the work ethic and heart they show on and off the field.
Joe Phillips Memorial Scholarship
Joe Phillips grew up in Davie County where he spent his childhood riding motorbikes and bicycles, shooting guns, listening to music, and playing guitar. A true non-conformist, Joe marched to the beat of his own drum. He had little concern for what others thought of what he wore or the cars he drove.
Joe’s son, Eric, remembers his father’s fun-loving personality fondly. “I remember watching Tom and Jerry with him. I loved watching and listening to him laugh uncontrollably at Tom the cat taking a frying pan to the head,” Eric said. “When it snowed he would take us to some parking lot and do donuts in our red Pinto station-wagon. I felt incredibly lucky to have a father and friend like him. He was the best friend and father a boy could have. I used to say that when he was alive too.”
Joe had a passion for music and the arts. Eric grew up listening to his dad play the guitar for as long as he can remember. Joe would often play at small venues in and around Mocksville. He was also an active volunteer at the Arts Council and enjoyed participating in their events.
Joe Phillips was a one-of-a-kind man who brought a special energy and passion to the lives of his family and friends. His son Eric started the Joe Phillips Memorial Scholarship as a way to give back to students in memory of his father’s life. The scholarship fund will remain in Davie County forever, continuing to assist young people who share in Joe’s passion for music and the arts.
The Joe Phillips Memorial Scholarship is available to a high school senior with a passion for the Arts.
John and Rose Caudle Scholarship
John grew up in the Farmington community and graduated from Farmington High School in 1943. Rose was born in Frankton, Indiana. Her family moved to Farmington in 1939. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1944. Rose and John quickly formed a close relationship and were married November 21,1944.
John volunteered for the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet. His combat experience as a tail gunner on a B-29 was from Tinian Island in the South Pacific for combat missions over Japan.
John was discharged from the U.S. Air Corps on January 31, 1946. John and Rose soon afterwards set up housekeeping in Farmington. This marriage was blessed with three wonderful children; Patricia, Linda, and Robert. They immediately got involved in community activities. They were active members of Farmington United Methodist Church. John and Rose loved working with young people by getting them to participate in church and community activities. Rose served as a Sunday School teacher for several years. She also was the manager of the Farmington School cafeteria which kept her in contact with many local youths.
They built a house on Farmington Road in 1955. It quickly became a gathering place for many for many of the youth in the community.
The Farmington Community Association was organized and John served as its president for a number of years. He was instrumental in getting the Farmington School property donated to the Farmington Community Association by the Davie County Board of Education. Today it is used for educational and recreational purposes.
Both are in their nineties and continue to support projects that advance opportunities for young students to further their education.

Judge George Fuller Memorial Scholarship
George Thomas Fuller was the first-born son of George and Frances Fuller on January 3, 1947. He was raised on a tobacco farm with his three siblings. An avid reader, George had a bright mind and could always be found with a book in hand. After high school, flying became his passion. Although poor vision prevented him from becoming a commercial airline pilot, he was not discouraged. George became a flight instructor and mastered stunt flying. He continued to fly planes and gliders for pleasure until his health prevented him from doing so.
Upon encouragement from his wife Elizabeth, George obtained a college education and then decided to aim even higher and pursue law school. He served as an assistant District Attorney where he honed his skills and became the lead assistant prosecutor in as many cases as his experience permitted. In 1981 he was appointed to fill a judgeship in the 22nd Judicial District, serving four terms. He earned a reputation of fairness and justice. George understood the hardships of life, believed that they could be overcome, and had a lack of tolerance for those who would harm or interfere with anyone making that effort. He told new judges, “do what you think is right, let the Court of Appeals decide what the law is.”
George’s most fulfilling role, however, was being the father of two girls, who were his pride and joy. Both inherited his intellect, joy for reading, and desire to advocate for the disadvantaged. George would be proud that the scholarship in his memory assists deserving students in honor of his life well lived.
The Judge George Fuller Memorial Scholarship is available to Alexander, Davidson, Davie, and Iredell County high school seniors with an emphasis on academics and need for financial assistance (this scholarship alternates between counties).
Louise Stroud & Jessie Stroud Hinkle Music Scholarship
Jessie Hinkle created this scholarship to honor her older sister who passed away in 2008. When Jessie was very young, her mother was sick and Louise, who was 12 years older, took care of her. As they grew together, Jessie and Louise became more than sisters, they became best friends as well. Louise always had a passion for music and started teaching her sister to play the piano when Jessie was only five years old. Although Jessie did not decide to make a career out of music, she continued to play the piano for many years and has always kept the great interest and love for music that her sister first instilled.
Music was Louise’s life. She got her Bachelor’s in Music from Salem College and taught piano for 57 years in schools and privately. People loved to hear Louise play; she had an obvious talent. Both Louise and Jessie were very active in First Baptist Church of Mocksville, where Louise was the pianist for 61 years. Louise always tried to arrange for her students to play at First Baptist or at their own church; she felt good knowing they were putting their talent to use.
Both were involved in many community groups such as the Civitans, the Thursday Morning Music Club, Woman’s Club, and the NC Federation of Music Club. Louise was appointed State Chairman of the Music of Poetry division of the National Federation of Music. She loved poetry and had several poems published.
Louise lived to be 95 and led an incredibly full life. Jessie knew that the most appropriate legacy for her sister would be a scholarship to help students reach their goals in studying music. The scholarship will assist those who aspire to lead a life rich in their passion, just as Louise did.
The Louise Stroud & Jessie Stroud Hinkle Music Scholarship is available to a high school senior who will pursue a major or minor in Music or a closely related field. Sample of work required.

While there, she was a member of the Penn State Thespians and Kappa Phi, a Christ centered organization for women. She taught high school following graduation.

Mrs. Potter was active in the Welcome to Washington International Club that promotes “understanding through friendship and friendship through understanding” to area arrivals. She served as a gymnastics judge in metropolitan area gymnastic meets. She participated in the Stephen Ministries at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Bethesda, MD, a program in which trained lay counselors walk with individuals or families through crises or challenging seasons. Mrs. Potter’s love of music was expressed in her long membership in the church choir.
From Washington, the Potters were assigned to Headquarters, Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, in Rome, Italy. Subsequent assignments took them to Pakistan where Mrs. Potter taught school at the Murree Christian School in the shadow of the Himalayan Mountains. Their next overseas stop was the country of Lesotho in South Africa.

Rosa and James Clyde Cook, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
James Clyde Cook Sr. was born in 1900 and his wife was born in 1902. They had ten children together, five girls and five boys. Mr. Cook ran a garage at his home for many years, eventually moving his business to the corner of Highway 158 and Redland Road in Davie County. It was in the building attached to the grocery store owned by Mr. Duke and Effie Smith and now known as Andy’s Grocery.
Mr. Cook worked on cars, trucks, and anything that needed fixing. In his day, Davie County was more farm country than it is today, so he worked on the farm machinery if something broke down, even making parts for machinery if the farmer needed the part and no part was available or the farmer could not afford to buy the new part to fix it. Mr. Cook was also an electrician, wiring many of the homes in Davie County when electricity first became available.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker, helping raise the ten children. She enjoyed working in her garden, yard, and with her flowers.
They taught their children the value of hard work, trust, and respect for their fellow man. All five of their boys followed in their father’s footsteps, becoming mechanics, owning garages at their homes, working after hours from their mechanical jobs at other businesses and after retirement.
The girls were all homemakers and worked in the textile plants. After working hours, they came home and helped with housework.

Samuel P. Hall Memorial Scholarship
Sam Hall, son of Bill and Betty Hall, grew up in Davie County with an older sister, Elizabeth, and brother, William. He loved to fish and as a young boy he rabbit hunted. And of course, he had his moments of mischief, as did all boys his age. His sister Elizabeth recalls that “he always had lots of friends,” and it seemed as if “people were drawn to him.” Sam married Jackie K. Hartley in 1983 and celebrated the birth of their son Evan in 1988. No doubt, the family had a happy life together.
Sam loved the outdoors so his career as a surveyor was a natural fit. He loved tromping through the woods and mapping land he had never seen before.
In later years, Sam enjoyed mapping and spent many hours in front of the computer. He taught Evan a lot about construction and hard work when they built their home.
In addition to his family and career, Sam had a passion for his community and for helping others. He served as the president of the Jaycees, an important community service group. “Sam loved to tell jokes,” said Elizabeth. “He would open every Jaycee meeting with a joke. The joke telling continued and Sam later went to Mocksville Elementary School at the end of every year to tell Evan’s class “age-appropriate” jokes. He had a great sense of humor.”
Sam had tremendous respect for people who battled through adversity and found a way to rise above it. He was one of the first to lend a helping hand. The scholarship is one more example of Sam lending a helping hand to young people in the community he loved so much.

He was mortally wounded by hostile military action on the battle field. By protecting his fellow soldiers, he became the first Davie County native to lose his life in the Vietnam War. Goss was awarded the Bronze Star with a Combat “V” posthumously for his heroic actions on that day, and he was awarded a special place in the heart of every person in Davie County.

The Extra Mile, Daric Beiter Scholarship
Daric Beiter was a loving husband, brother, son, friend, teacher, and to countless young people, coach. Thanks to the vision and generosity of wife Michelle and a committee of young people, Daric will always be remembered in Davie County.
In December 2011, “The Extra Mile, Daric Beiter Scholarship” was opened at the Davie Community Foundation as an Acorn Fund. The fund grew through future earnings and gifts into an endowment to award scholarships annually. Because of Daric’s love for running, a 5k fundraiser is being planned for the spring with proceeds added to the scholarship.
Daric Beiter was a beloved history teacher and track and cross-country coach at Davie High School. Daric died on his 37th birthday, leaving a shocked family and community. According to then Davie High principal Jeff Wallace, “We lost a track coach and a teacher, but more importantly, a guy the kids could truly relate to. When he got 70 to 80 kids out for cross-country, I knew they were there for some other reason than just to run.” Shawn Rider, a student teacher and assistant track coach when Daric died said Daric lived his life to serve others.
Daric encouraged his students to “go the extra mile,” and through his scholarship fund, he will do just that by helping young people continue their education. Daric will be missed by all who knew him but his legacy will live on as he helps Davie High students long into the future!
The Extra Mile, Daric Beiter Scholarship is available to a high School senior who participated in Davie High Cross Country and/or Track and Field.
