Purpose
The purpose of the Legacy Circle is to recognize and thank donors for their future gift while they are living. The Foundation is better able to understand the goal of the donor if we know of a planned gift. We want to set funds up as the donor desires, and your example can inspire others to make an estate gift of their own.
How to Join
Joining the Davie Community Foundation Legacy Circle is easy. First, arrange for a planned gift in favor of the Foundation. Second, inform the Foundation by submitting a Davie Community Foundation Legacy Circle form. Forms are also available at the Community Foundation office.
Note: There is no minimum amount needed to be left to the Davie Community Foundation to be a member of the Legacy Circle.
Bequests are the most common method used to leave a gift to the Davie Community Foundation. However, individuals may make the Foundation the beneficiary of a 401K/IRA plan, insurance policy, or establish a charitable trust in favor of the Foundation. All types of gifts can qualify an individual or couple for membership in the Davie Community Foundation Legacy Circle.
We do not ask how much is being left to the Foundation. We encourage donors to discuss their gifts with us simply to be sure we can comply with their wishes. The information you provide helps us understand and record your wishes to assure your future gift is used as you intended.
Legacy Circle members may designate the use of the distributions from their gifts, or may leave the distributions to the discretion of the Davie Community Foundation’s Board of Directors through a Community Fund. A Legacy Circle gift may be used to establish a new Named Fund (if the size requirements are met) or may be added to any of the Foundation’s existing funds.
Gifts that are not specified are added to the Community Impact Fund.
Recognition
Members of the Legacy Circle have the personal gratification of knowing they will enrich lives in Davie County after they are gone. We list Davie Community Foundation Legacy Circle members in our publications with the hope YOU will inspire new inquiries and new members. Legacy Circle members may of course choose to be anonymous.
