David Hursey graduated from Davie High School in 2013 and attended North Carolina State University. Brent Skiver graduated from Davie High in 2003 and went on to attend Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. Katie Barber graduated from Davie High School in 2012 and then attended UNC Chapel Hill where she studied Biology with a minor in Hispanic Studies. Her fascination with the spanish language sparked her study abroad experience in Grenada, Spain. Back at Chapel Hill, Katie got her CNA and worked at a psychiatry clinic. From walking the halls of William R. Davie Elementary to playing under the Friday Night Lights at War Eagle Stadium, I have been a Davie County boy through and through. One of the scholarships I received from the Foundation was the Spurgeon Goss Memorial Scholarship. Spurgeon was a ferocious defensive lineman. When we hear Greensboro, our first thought is a city in North Carolina not too far from Davie County, but for scholarship recipient Brooke Hess, Greensboro is now the rural town in Alabama that she calls home.
