What is Pearls of Empowerment?
Like your grandmother’s strand of pearls passed down to you and then to your daughter, Pearls of Empowerment consists of women of all generations and backgrounds residing in Davie County. We come together to pool our contributions, learn more about issues affecting the lives of women and children, and make funding decisions together.
As women we give of our time, talent, and treasure differently, and in diverse ways… making each of us a unique “Pearl”. We want to giveback to our community… we want to continue learning and growing so that our lives reflect a true “luster” as part of a lovely strand of pearls.

Our Mission
Pearls of Empowerment seeks to improve the lives of women and children by building a community of female givers who provide grants to local programs and initiatives that address the root causes of social issues impacting women and children in Davie County.

Our Vision
Pearls of Empowerment envisions a community where women: Have equal opportunities, skills and resources to be independent, self-sufficient and contributing members of the community. Are empowered and equipped to be leaders in the community. Are supported in their family role, without regard to family structure; and are active givers who share their time, talent, and treasure to better the community regardless of their economic status Along with their children, are healthy and live in homes and communities without fear of violence.

Membership
Each member contributes $1 per day: $365 annually for a period of five years; $300 is contributed to the grant making fund, $35 is contributed to the endowment, and the additional $30 is added to the program and operating expense fund. The five year commitment helps women to realize that philanthropy is a lifetime venture and helps provide stability to the funds of Pearls of Empowerment. Our goal is to have 100 Pearls; granting $30,000 to Davie County non-profits in the first year! The first 100 women, the founders, will be denoted as “Cultured Pearls” For women who feel that they can’t make this type of financial commitment alone, a group may join as one member, as long as there is only one contact person, and will have one vote for grant selection. To be considered a member for the year, all donations must be submitted no later than June 30th for November grant making. Pearls of Empowerment is committed to educating its members about issues that women and children face every day in Davie County and throughout the world. Through the knowledge gained, the members are able to make informed funding decisions.

Education
Pearls of Empowerment will sponsor educational events throughout the year on a variety of philanthropic topics. As the events occur, members will be notified
