The Community Foundation of Davie County
Issues $30,000 Challenge
10-23-2003

The Community Foundation of Davie County has issued a $30,000 challenge to the Storehouse for Jesus! The Storehouse for Jesus has been challenged to raise $90,000 cash from the more than 90 churches in Davie County between October 1, 2003 and March 31, 2004. If $90,000 is raised, the Foundation will award $30,000, giving the Storehouse for Jesus a total of $120,000 toward its proposed new building. "We are very pleased and encouraged by the very generous challenge grant from The Community Foundation of Davie County," stated Sarah Wood, Fund Raising Chairperson. "I encourage every church to join our effort to raise the $90,000!"

Contributions toward the match must be made in cash, not in pledges from churches or individuals. According to Foundation President, Jane Simpson, "The board had a lengthy discussion about the needs of Davie County at their board retreat. They felt the non-profit organization currently meeting the greatest human need in Davie County was the Storehouse for Jesus. We talked with Marie Collins, Storehouse President, and learned that their immediate need was for dollars to build a new building. Our board likes the idea of making the grant in the form of a challenge. It doesn't mean as much if funds are handed to organizations. It will mean more to the Storehouse if the community works together to successfully meet the challenge. We hope this helps Sarah Wood in her fund raising efforts." The Storehouse for Jesus currently has more than $200,000 toward the new building.

A video telling the "Storehouse story" along with an information brochure is available to all churches. Presentation appointments may be made by calling Sarah Wood (336-751-2826) or Marie Collins at the Storehouse for Jesus (336-751-1060). Individuals are asked to make donations of all sizes. Bricks for an outside patio at the new site may be purchased for $1,000, and room sponsorships are available for donations of $15,000 to $30,000. The proposed facility will provide space for the food and clothing ministry, examining rooms for the medical clinic, a pharmacy, a new dental clinic, and significant warehouse space for storage. Projected costs of the proposed 27,000 square-foot facility total approximately $900,000. "We are desperate to get into the new facility to be able to better care for our clients and patients," said Marie Collins, Storehouse President. "We are hindered in what we can offer due to the lack of space. We would greatly appreciate the help of the community - both in donations and prayers."
